Three Trees

July 16, 2012 by Laraine Armenti, visual artist

I painted outside this week, both on my own and with friends. Going back to the same location as last year provides a comparison for changes taking place in my work. The drawing is more specific, there is a wider spectrum of color-value, and I enjoyed the size of a moderately larger canvas. I am alternately completing a piece in one session versus sustaining the larger painting over several days. A conversation with painters at school about the benefits of working fast and intuitive versus slow and accurate energized my thoughts about the process.
