VSC Walkabout

December 21, 2010 by Laraine Armenti, visual artist

VSC; ink

VSC Walkabout was made while in residence last month at Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont. As daily drawings accumulated, a narrative emerged from the sequence of places seen: the studio, dining hall, bedroom, campus, and town. VSC Walkabout presents the architectural and emotional places that form the backdrop of still-life work done in the studio.

This project was made without premeditation; it is a rough draft produced with limited time and computer equipment. It evolved organically from the need to share a small sketchbook with a large audience of fellow artists in residence. The sketchbook is 3-1/2 x 5-1/2 inches; the individual drawings are roughly one or two inches square. The animation was projected on an eight-foot screen. Click on the link above to start the animation on YouTube (the file size exceeds the limit of this blog).
