I am pleased to announce that I have been awarded a Fellowship from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in Amherst, Virginia. This will be my second residency at VCCA, attending for a month each time.
The VCCA is located next to Sweet Briar College, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in rural Virginia. I will be among approximately 20 Fellows focusing on our own creative projects at this working retreat for visual artists, writers, poets, and composers.
The VCCA provides private studio, bedroom, and gourmet meals, all for a reasonable daily fee. Other than the breakfast and dinner hour, there are no schedules or obligations. This distraction-free atmosphere, as well as the energy that results from having some 20 creative people gathered together, plus the talented staff, enables everyone to be highly productive. I hope the work I do there will merit this remarkable opportunity.
