Laraine Armenti has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Rhode Island School of Design where she studied art history, painting and photography with a major in etching. In lieu of a masters degree, Armenti painted from the figure for three years in the private studio of Ronald Rizzi. Her awards in fine art include grants from the Massachusetts Council for the Arts and two from the Artists Valentine. She was a Fellow at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in 2007 and 2009, and the Vermont Studio Center in 2004 and 2005. Her paintings are held in private collections in the United States and in the permanent collection of Meditech Corporation. She began her career as an illustrator and graphic designer in the computer industry at Digital Equipment Corporation while continuing to paint. In 2007, she transitioned to painting full time after 18 years of self-employment in corporate meeting and event graphic design. Her studio is in Framingham, Massachusetts.
